REQUIREMENTS:
- High school seniors who reside in district or attend an in-district high school.
- Must have been a high school senior during the preceding academic year.
- Students must have a cumulative unweighted 3.35 GPA at the completion of the first semester of their senior year.
- Deadline for 2025-26 Trustee Honors Scholarship: August 18, 2025.
ELIGIBILITY PROCESS:
- Include your cumulative unweighted GPA on your admissions application.
- Submit your unofficial transcripts from the seventh semester of your senior year.
- Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded into the admissions application, provided to the Records Office in Building B, Room 220 or via email at records@6317p.com.
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application).
- Enroll in at least 15 credit hours per Fall and Spring semester.
- Complete all other pending processes sent to your email from the Scholarship Office.
Students will be notified through their email within 3-5 weeks if they have been chosen as a recipient of the scholarship. Please allow additional time for review during peak processing periods.
NOTE: The 2024-25 Trustee Honors deadline has passed.
Deadline for 2025-26 Trustee Honors Scholarship: August 18, 2025.
AWARD:
- Trustee Honors covers in-district tuition and fees or Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters for up to 2 years and 60 credit hours.
- Out of district fees and tuition charges are not covered under the scholarship.
- Continuing Education (CE) courses are not covered under the scholarship.
- Only one degree or certificate will be covered under this program. Any classes taken after graduation will be the student’s responsibility to pay.
- Students must be enrolled in at least 15 credit hours per Fall or Spring semester.
- If a student qualifies for the Illinois MAP Grant, the MAP Grant will be applied before the Trustee Honors scholarship.
- Students must successfully complete (Grade “D” or higher) 30 credit hours at the end of their first year, with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA for renewal for the next academic year.
- If a student begins classes in Fall, they will have until the end of the following Summer semester to meet the credit hour and GPA requirements.
- Please note: Withdrawn/dropped classes are not counted towards the credit hour requirement for renewal.
- If you will be dropping a class, or will be enrolling in less than 15 credit hours a semester, it is required you contact the Scholarship Office at 708-456-0300, Ext. 3155, or scholarships@6317p.com. Failure to notify the office can result in the loss of your scholarship.
- Maximum of 60 attempted credits are covered within two consecutive academic years.
- Students who withdraw from Triton College or transfer to another institution will lose eligibility for the scholarship.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- When is the eligibility deadline for Trustee Honors?
Students must complete the entire eligibility process before August 18th, 2025. This is the same deadline for incoming freshmen and renewing sophomores. If a student fails to complete the eligibility process before this date, they do not have an ability to “reapply.” Eligibility in renewed on an annual basis.
- How do I apply to the Trustee Honors Scholarship?
There is no separate application for Trustee Honors. You simply include your unweighted cumulative high school GPA on your Triton college application, and are notified about your eligibility.
- Are international students eligible for this scholarship?
No, international students cannot receive Trustee Honors.
- What happens if I fail to meet the credit hour / GPA requirement after my first year?
If you fail to meet the 30 credit hour minimum, or 3.0 GPA minimum, your scholarship will not be renewed for a second year. Your entire first year of eligible tuition and fees will still be covered under the scholarship.
- Will I have to pay back this scholarship?
No, scholarships do not have to be paid back, even if you become ineligible for a second year. Your first year will still be covered under the Trustee Honors Scholarship.
- What if I want to enroll in less than 15 credit hours per semester?
First year students must enroll in at least 15 credit hours per Fall and Spring semester. Only second years can enroll in less than 15 credit hours, and only if they let the Scholarship Office know beforehand. Failure of second year students to notify the scholarship office will result in the loss of their scholarship.
- I have exceeded 60 total credit hours, and want to take additional classes. Will Trustee Honors cover my class costs?
No. The Trustee Honors scholarship only covers 60 credit hours over the span of 2 consecutive academic years. Any credit hours or semesters exceeding these limits will be the student’s responsibility to cover.
- I am an out of district student. Why is Trustees not covering all of my costs?
Trustee Honors only covers in-district tuition and fees. Students will be responsible for the out of district charges on their account.
- Can I use Trustee Honors to cover Bookstore charges?
No. Trustee Honors cannot be used to cover Bookstore charges. The scholarship only covers in-district tuition and fees.
